Percona’s Solutions Engineering team will share its proven methodology through real-world success stories with deep insight into objectives, challenges, architectures, migration paths, and future vision enjoyed by those who have migrated to open source software to break free of Enterprise licensed versions. This talk will focus on specific success stories in the real-world to share insights gained.

2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. PostgreSQL Versus MySQL — What Are the Real Differences?
MySQL and PostgreSQL are open source databases that, from a very high viewpoint, seem to do the same thing.  However, subtle and non-subtle differences can severely impact your project. There are features missing in one that are in the other (JSON_TABLE() and MERGER(), for example) that will change the way you handle your data. Administration for either database needs special skills, and backups can potentially cause you great angst. So how do you pick ‘THE ONE’ for your needs? Where are the pain points that you need to avoid? This session explores the differences between MySQL and PostgreSQL so you can make an informed decision for your business.
2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Running MongoDB in the Cloud: How to Reduce Infrastructure Costs Using Open Source Components and Kubernetes
The cost of running a growing enterprise-grade MongoDB environment can quickly get out of control. Costs can rapidly increase to cope with your scaling requirements, regardless of whether you are running a DBaaS or on-premise solution. To make things worse, there are multiple traps awaiting. Choices that seem to be initially not important may make a significant difference at scale. In this session, we'll have a look at typical reasons for this and discuss efficient alternatives built on open source and cloud-native technologies.
