When it comes to scaling your database environment, even seemingly minor decisions can majorly impact your bottom line. This is true regardless of whether you’re running a Database as a Service (DBaaS) or an on-premises solution. In this session, we will look at the common reasons why costs spiral out of control when scaling, as well as discuss potential open source, cloud-native solutions for PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL.

2:40 p.m. - 3:25 p.m. Fireside Chat with Percona Customer — Riley Hockett, Software Engineer, Airtable and Michael Coburn, Principal Architect,  Percona
In 2021, Airtable upgraded its MySQL databases from 5.6 to 8.0, which was a major undertaking because they were upgrading two versions at once. Since then, they have completed a minor version upgrade, from 8.0.21 to 8.0.35, and are currently planning a future upgrade. Join us for this fireside chat as Riley Hockett, Software Engineer at Airtable, discusses their upgrade process, challenges they faced along the way, best practices they learned at the end, and how Percona was an invaluable partner throughout their journey.
